STEM in grade 6Sixth graders kicked off the 2019-2020 school year with a Discrepant Event STEM Activity.  Discrepant events are activities that have surprising outcomes. Students were given a quarter, dime, nickel and penny and had to guess how many drops of water fit onto each coin.  They were then given water droppers to find the acutal amounts.  Students were surprised to see how much water actually fit onto a coin and learned about surface tension of water .
